Leadership

Discover how students lead and shape the future of AI education at both chapter and national levels

Leadership is a core part of USAAI's mission. At both the chapter and national level, students are given the tools, guidance, and freedom to lead clubs, run events, and shape the future of the organization. USAAI is entirely student-led, and national leaders are active high school students. Leadership is earned through impact, not simply elections.

Chapter Leadership

Each USAAI chapter is student-run and led by a group of officers at their school.

Chapter leadership typically includes:

  • • President / Co-President
  • • Vice President
  • • Outreach Lead
  • • Secretary

These officers run weekly meetings, organize chapter events, and represent their school in national programming. USAAI provides all the resources they need, including:

  • • Onboarding guides
  • • Slide decks and curriculum
  • • Planning templates
  • • Monthly check-ins with national mentors

Chapter leadership positions are usually selected internally, but all officers are officially recognized by USAAI.

National Leadership Team

Students who excel in their chapter or contribute meaningfully to national initiatives may be invited to serve on the USAAI National Leadership Team.

Roles are based on merit and may include:

  • • National Executive Officers (CEO, CMO, COO, etc.)
  • • Vice Officers (Vice Technology, Vice Outreach, etc.)
  • • Regional Leads (oversee chapters in specific areas)
  • • Directors (lead initiatives like the competition series, hackathons, and recruitment)

National leaders help run programming, support chapter growth, and make high-level decisions for the organization.

How to Join National Leadership

Students do not need to be founders or presidents to get involved nationally. Some common ways to earn national leadership roles:

  • • Running a strong and consistent chapter
  • • Volunteering for national events or content development
  • • Showing initiative in hackathons or leadership workshops
  • • Being recommended by a current national leader

The team regularly reviews standout students and invites them to take on greater responsibility.

Leadership Development

USAAI equips all its leaders with resources and support to grow. This includes:

  • • Peer mentorship from national officers
  • • Access to exclusive workshops and leadership sessions
  • • Opportunity to collaborate across chapters
  • • National recognition for high-performing leaders

The goal is to develop real-world leadership skills — from project management to public speaking — that students can take beyond high school.
